It’s the end of a cold but cool week – the Vans Penken Park Opening Week was once again a must for many pros, DJs, party people and other snowboard enthusiasts.
The week started on 3 January with the HOTZONE.TV & THE SEEKER Groms Open which was also the opening of the pro line on that Sunday. The judges were particularly impressed by Georg Huber, who got second in the overall standing and won the competition of riders under 16 years, as well as by Tobi Fieg, winner of the day with his bs 9 to fs 3, who won the 400 Euro prize money!
The award ceremony took place on Sunday in the Scotland Yard Pub, where all Vans teamriders, rookies and of course the media dawgs met for an English BBQ and heaps of Cuba Libre and Cuba Royal. However, the Vans teamriders Cheryl Maas, Arthur Longo, Tyler Chorlton, David Bertschinger, Lisa Filzmoser, Wolle Nyvelt, Rich Hooks, Tobi Strauss, Andi Lehmann und Kalle Ohlson could not watch the Discodog DJ performance from Cologne, since the Sunrise Shooting was planned as early as Monday morning 6:00 am - that’s when all the party guests probably went to bed...
After this very challenging session early in the cold morning it was time for a collective breakfast and afterwards everybody got to shred the Vans Penken Park. All the week, the VANS Euro teamriders opened the season together with the locals and all the other riders in the park. Of course, everybody was excited about the Igloo Party at the White Lounge, the unique party location on Mount Ahorn. Yes, Mayrhofen has also a lot to offer besides the Vans Penken Park.
