Safety first - Freeriding in Mayrhofen
Besides the many groomed slopes, freeriders find a lot of spots with perfect conditions for freeriding in Mayerhofen. Of course going off-piste is always at your own risk. However, on this page you find important information to keep you as safe as possible. You will get safety tips, links to the avalanche situation report, a terrain map and an experienced mountain guide. When you go freeriding, always remember: this is alpine terrain. Apart from good preparation by checking the avalanche situation and the terrain, every freerider should take his avalanche beacon, backpack with probe and shovel as well as a helmet and a back protector with him. The safest way to explore our backcountry is to hire an experienced mountain guide. |

Avalanche safety training - for more safety on the mountain
A nice day, mountains covered in fresh snow, untracked slopes - perfect freeriding conditions which make your heart beat faster. With the professional guides from ROCKnSNOW you can ride the best off-piste terrain. However, safety awareness should always come first. Your guide will show you the dangers of freeriding. With practical instructions on the mountain you will learn how to recognize dangers. By checking the avalanche situation report, wind and weather conditions, different terrain ... you get more safety know-how. After the last run there will be a simulated avalanche search and rescue. Safety equipment such as helmet, backpack with integrated back protector, avalanche beacon, probe, shovel, avalanche airbag can be rented. SAAC Camps  |
The SAAC Basic Avalanche Safety Camp on 27 and 28 February 2010: On two days, officially certified mountain and ski guides tell you everything about alpine dangers, risk management, equipment and the right behaviour when going into the backcountry.
