Simply gigantic...
....are the glass enclosed high-capacity gondolas of the Ahornbahn - a real attraction. In only 6 minutes this cable car travels about 1300 altimeters – from the centre of Mayrhofen all the way up to the summit station 2000m above sea level. Along the way, Austria's largest cable car treats up to 160 guests at a time to a breathtaking view over the Zillertal and Tux Alps.

Ahornbahn awarded with two architecture prizes

Located at the foot of Leisure Mountain Ahorn the bottom station is an imposing sight. The shadow plays of the sun on the dark-grey concrete make the building look even more impressive. An important factor in planning the construction of this extraordinary cable car was the integration of tourist activities in the surrounding natural environment. While the building looks quite unassuming from the outside, the inside is equipped with the latest technical features the cable car industry has to offer. Therefore, the Ahornbahn has recently been awarded with the European architecture prize “best architects” and the prize of the Austrian Cement and Concrete Industry 2007.
